Sara Gran

Sara was born in Brooklyn in 1971. In 2004, she moved to New Orleans, where she still lives, in a building from the early 1800s that was not damaged or flooded by Katrina. Since moving here she's been working on a new novel, set in New Orleans, that she hopes to finish by the end of 2006. Sara also hopes someday to publish a book of photographs and to start her own small press. Before making a living as a writer, she had endless jobs but mostly worked with books, working at bookstores like Shakespeare & Co, the Strand, and Housing Works, and Sara is still an avid book buyer although now she keeps them all. She collect hard-to-find books on conspiracy theories, the occult, hobos, geishas, and Brooklyn or New Orleans. Sara also collects herbals, nineteenth-century homemaking guides, nicely-printed ephemera, She also collects vintage handbags, pressed pennies, and religious fetishes.
