Louisiana native, award-winning chef and author Susanne Duplantis will be at The Garden District Book Shop on August 9 to celebrate the release of her cookbook Lagniappe Leftovers. Duplantis is an advocate for food sustainability and has a passion for showing others how to use their leftovers to create new meals. Every recipe Duplantis creates is designed to save you food, money, and time.
In Lagniappe Leftovers, Duplantis takes the last bit of leftovers from your favorite Southern dishes and repurposes them into brand-new tasty offerings. Her simple home-cooked recipes combine the time-saving advantage of leftovers with the convenience of pantry staples you already have on hand to create family-pleasing meals that are also friendly on your wallet. With Duplantis’ guidance, readers will begin to see leftovers as a delicious way to save time, food, and money.
The event will begin at 6:00 PM with a welcome reception followed by a discussion between Duplantis and The Chicory House’s executive chef , Martha Gilreath. Gilreath is also an advocate for sustainability and The Chicory House’s menu was designed with food waste prevention in mind. The two will walk guests through the inspiration behind Lagniappe Leftovers, sustainability and answer any questions guests may have. Afterward, Duplantis will be available to personalize books for guests.
The event is free and open to the public. Copies of Lagniappe Leftovers will be available for purchase at The Garden District Book Shop.
All citywide-mandated COVID safety protocols will be in place.
