In 1929, Winston Churchill is introduced by his closest friend and confidante, F. E. Smith, Lord Birkenhead, to Bernard Darwin, who causes Churchill to question his celebrated aversion to golf. Darwin is an accomplished amateur player and a renowned golf journalist. His influence on Churchill will prove to be a crucial factor in the outcome of World War II.
