MAY 14 | CALLIOPE KATE AND THE VOICE OF THE RIVER STORYTIME | 11:00 AM
Come to The Garden District Book Shop May 14 to meet the puppets and the author who carved them as she illustrates her adventurous new tall tale “Calliope Kate and the Voice of the River.” From her birth on a shanty boat drifting down the Mississippi, to riding a giant catfish, to taming a hurricane with the instrument of her dreams - the blaring steamboat calliope, Kate is a wild, new American heroine. The author, Karen Konnerth, has been a puppeteer for many years and was thrilled to transform her visual storytelling to the printed page.
The puppet theater version of the story will begin at 11:00am in the Children’s Room.
