ABOUT THE EVENT

Join Pinky the penguin as she teaches children about manners in this charming and educational story.

Pinky the penguin is very polite. She always tries to do what’s right. Today she will show us manners the Louisiana way, from sharing beignets at breakfast to tipping street musicians, greeting the streetcar driver, being a good sport at the football game, and more.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Katie Cordes was raised in LaPlace, Louisiana, and has lived in New Orleans for over fifteen years. She is the wife of a local entrepreneur and proud mother of two children. She has always been creative, with a vivid imagination, and she grew up dancing, drawing, writing poetry, choreographing, and performing in local theatre. She graduated as salutatorian of her LSU Nursing class, and while she is trained as nurse, she is an artist at heart.

Katie enjoys spending time with her family, riding her bike through City Park, reading, and doing anything pertaining to the arts. She self-published her first children’s book in 2021, Pinky Polite Helps Randy Racoon Mind His Manners, and she hopes to continue writing and illustrating books that bring joy and meaningful messages to children.
